I am a senior in the McCombs School of Business at the University of Texas at Austin and will be graduating in May 2010 with a Bachelor of Business Administration degree. This summer, Cognitive Technologies is sponsoring my research in project resource management. Project resource management is "the planning, allocating, and scheduling of resources to tasks, generally including manpower, machine, money, and materials." Since project resources are the biggest component of both project costs and schedule variance, we contend that ineffective resource management may be one of the primary sources of project failures. This research is an extremely important first step in unraveling the impact resource management has on aspects such as project success and profitability.
